Project Description

The Billingsley School Of Music & Art is a non-profit with the goal of empowering the youth of Minneapolis through transformative, high quality, urban music education experiences.

Working closely with the client and a former co-worker as designer, the site was rebuilt from the ground up in WordPress with a custom backend implemented through the Advanced Custom Fields plugin. The custom backend allows for non-technical to quickly and easily add or update content without being overwhelmed by dozens of options or a steep learning curve. This style of backend also helps to prevent users from accidentally doing something that greatly disrupts the visual design leading to fewer support calls and emails.

The BSOMA site uses a combination of CSS grid and CSS variables to make layout changes for mobile and tablet devices easier and allows for the customizations available through the backend to be rendered quickly with minimal CSS changes.
